National
Rankings -
2001 Playoffs FAQ
Q: How are the teams selected?
A: The top 64 teams from the National
Rankings are invited to participate. I can additionally offer
teams invitations beyond that should any of the top 64 teams decline the
invitation. Q: What is the
tournament format?
A: In order to get the playoffs done during the last four weeks of
the NFL regular season, we group teams into 4 team
"quadrants". The winner of each 4 team quadrant advances
to the 2nd round, and the winner of each 4 team quadrant in the 2nd round
advances to the semi-finals, with the winner of each semi-final game
meeting in the championship on week 17. I reserve the right to take
the teams with the next highest scores from the 1st round should there not
be 16 quadrants (due to not getting lineups in time or declined
invitations) in order to get the 16 team quarterfinal bracket. Q:
How do lineups and scoring work?
A: For a complete answer, see the rules.
The lineup consists of 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR/TE's, and 1 PK from the teams
regular roster. In addition, every team selects a defense of their
choice. Even if a league drafted defensive teams, they are allowed
to select a defense not on their roster. This is done to ensure
fairness between leagues.
Q: Are there any prizes awarded?
A: Yes, Affordable Trophies
is providing a trophy to the National Playoff Champion. They design
trophies for all fantasy sports, I'd encourage you to check out their online
catalog!
Q: Where do I e-mail my lineups?
A: E-mail them to matt@javmar.com
Q: Can I change my lineup each week?
A: Yes, each week you advance, you send in a new lineup. If I don't
get one by that week's deadline I will use your previous lineup. Q:
Can I pick a new defense each week?
A: Yes, you can choose any NFL defense each week. You do not need
to stay with one team for the whole playoffs. Q:
Do special teams TD's count?
A: Only defensive TD's count. These include interceptions and
fumble recoveries for Touchdowns, and exclude Punt Returns and Kickoff Returns.
